Carpooling, Walking  and Biking to and from School

Town of Moraga street paving projects, new bus routes and the new JM start time will require,  as a new school year begins,  the Life Skills of patience and flexibility.  Parents are encouraged to carpool, create walking or biking groups, and to leave a few minutes earlier to prepare for possible delays.  See the article "Carpooling, Walking  and Biking" below and the "To and From" links in the left column. School sites will provide extra supervision before and after school.

Why Carpool?

You can't beat the convenience of having a reliable carpool system. You might only be responsible for driving the carpool once a week! Imagine not waiting in long lines or for buses every day (twice a day!) of the week. Increase the convenience by dropping the carpool off a block or two from school to avoid lines.

Environmentally Friendly:

Carpooling is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint and take better care of the environment.

Save Money:

With a carpool, you save on gas because you don't have to drive your kids to school and pick them up every day.

With a carpool, you can directly communicate with the driver. You know when he or she is going to arrive, and if there's a setback they can call you directly.

Carpooling is a good way to make friends - not only for students, but for parents, too. For kids, they'll benefit from being able to walk into school with classmates every day. For adults, the relationship established through carpooling can transition into a very real and valuable friendship.

Why Walk, Take the Bus or Ride Bikes to School?

All three provide an opportunity to get some exercise, and when traveling with classmates, to make friends. Parents and older students can ride and bike to school with younger students.
